Greener synthesis of substituted 1,2,3-triazoles

ABSTRACT: 1,2,3-Triazoles are aromatic heterocycles which can exhibit anti-allergenic, anti-bacterial and anti-HIV activities. The most popular synthesis for these molecules involves the use of organic solvents, toxic copper catalysts, and sealed reaction vessels. We have developed a greener method for synthesizing a variety of interesting 1,2,3-triazoles in a domestic microwave oven under conditions which can be easily undertaken in the standard organic laboratory without special glassware or equipment. This method has proven to be a fast and efficient technique to obtain a variety triazoles in good to excellent yields.
